The NDP (Neighbourhood Development Plan) is intended to create a shared vision for the future growth and development of the parish of Portreath
Together we have created a plan that supports the development of a vibrant and sustainable community for the residents and businesses of Portreath. The NDP will protect, sustain and enhance the Parish without compromising the environment for future generations.
What is it: The NDP is a planning policy document prepared by the community for the community. It gives local people a proper say over the future development of where we live, what new buildings will look like and where they will be built.
The Benefits: Neighbourhood planning enables communities to play a much stronger role in shaping the areas in which they live and work and in setting a framework for future development proposals, setting out a positive vision for the future. The NDP supports more local involvement in the future shaping of the parish. It will help provide a sustainable place to live, work and enjoy. It will identify community projects that have credibility through the evidence gathered during this NDP planning process. It will set policies to influence building design in the future. It will help protect the things that the community values most, such as safeguarding local greenspaces from development. It will help signpost developers what the community needs and wants.
